Welcome all from the old site, and those of you who may have just spotted this little corner of the internet over on The Gam. As a quick introduction, I am Chuck, a grad student and Rhode Islander currently working and residing in North Carolina. My research is on the feeding habits of spiny dogfish as they overwinter off of the Carolinas, and their ecological interactions with other species sharing the water with them. Most of what I write about involves dogfish, shark research, fisheries issues, and general marine biology, though I’m not above posting about random internet nerdiness or news items I happen to find interesting.
The next question you probably have is, “where they hell did you get that goofy name for your blog?” The name comes from the awesome Guy Ritchie move Snatch, and a day fishing with some friends off of Rhode Island.
We got into a school of dogfish, and for some reason we thought it was funny to keep asking each other if we “liked dags” every time we pulled one up. Evidently, I do in fact like dags. I’m looking forward to bringing my particular brand of New England saltiness to the Southern Fried empire. Come for the dogfish, stay for the science.
Welcome! I like dags!
Welcome! I, too, like dags!
Welcome! I like the new dags dig. Dags in Swedish means daily, so I’m expecting regular content!
It’s a small world.
Indeed it is.
